A Corpser emerges during publicly released Gears of War: E-Day footage.

Bringing Character Performances to Life

These publicly released moments demonstrate how animation, motion capture, character systems, cinematics, lighting, audio, VFX, and supporting gameplay features came together to create natural, believable performances. When the in-game footage debuted, the animation work, particularly the expressive facial performances, received widespread praise. The facial-animation system, built around substantially expanded facial articulation and more than 350 facial shapes, supported the subtle emotional performances seen throughout the footage. My production role was to coordinate dependencies across these disciplines, maintain visibility, and help resolve the blockers between individual craft and the finished moment.

“Gears of War: E-Day could be the first UE5 game to fulfil the engine’s promise.”

“The elaborately designed character models shine with excellent animations.”

- Digital Foundry, reported by Pure Xbox

“...the latest entry in the war on Locusts is breathtaking to look at.”

- Domagoj Belancic, Galaxus

- Michael Hoglund, Windows Central
